Danish Water Forum Annual Conference held in Stakladen at Aarhus University
WATEC was hosting this year’s annual Danish Water Forum conference 30th January with participants from Danish universities, knowledge institutions, companies and water utilities. It was a pleasure to meet water researchers and water professionals presenting their research results and innovative developments. WATEC researchers were also participating and contributing with new water insights. More than 120 participants visited Stakladen and took part in research dissemination and discussions. Awards this year were given to Post Doc. Ramya Veerubhotla from Department of Biology (WATEC, Aarhus University) with the title “Pioneering Waste-Powered Batteries, Green transition, and Clean Water”. The NIRAS award was given by Søren Hvilshøj. The other award from Grundfos was given to PhD student Bastian Stiem Kirkebæk from Department of Chemistry and Bioscience (Ålborg University). The GRUNDFOS award was given by Bo Højris. Apart from scientific sessions there was also presentation of the Allwaters consortium aiming for the large Knowledge and Innovation Community on Water Marine and Maritime Sector and Ecosystems. The Allwaters consortium now embrace 80+ partners all over Europe from industry, utilities, research, education, innovation clusters and public institutions. The session was facilitated by Water Valley Denmark. Finally, also Professor Nikolai Friberg presented a new center housed in the WATEC department Ecoscience with the focus on Nature Based Solutions. The activities in the center will also be part of the WATER KIC and ensure clean water, human health, and biodiversity in the natural environments.
